Civil preparation and execution for earthquake-affected residents in Groningen

The issue of earthquake damage in the province of Groningen needs little explanation. In Uithuizen, a village in the north of the province, Daiwa House Modular Europe is delivering temporary housing for the period in which existing homes are being reinforced and renewed. Building a complete neighborhood from scratch in a short time frame is no small task. Civil specialists from CLAFIS contributed to the preparation of both above-ground and underground infrastructure.
Civil expertise for temporary housing in Uithuizen
Daiwa House Modular Europe is developing temporary accommodation at multiple locations in the province of Groningen by supplying and installing residential units for earthquake-affected residents. Before placement, the selected sites are made construction-ready and suitable for living.
The biggest challenge within this project is the schedule—the time frame in which we have to deliver.

Underground and above-ground infrastructure activities
Civil specialists from CLAFIS—Marco Wijnstra (project manager, client representative, site supervisor) and Yvar van Oosten (civil engineer, work preparer)—provided their expertise throughout the entire project, from preparation through execution:
- Surveying the existing terrain
- Designing and calculating the new sewer system
- Producing technical drawings
- Making the site construction-ready
- Making the site ready for occupancy
- Drafting the specifications (contract documents)
- Organizing and executing the tendering procedure
