Through the ViA15 project, Rijkswaterstaat improves road accessibility and safety while increasing livability and flood protection in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region. Extending the A15 and widening parts of the A12 and A15 adds a critical link to the Dutch highway network.

The ViA15 project

Roads around Arnhem are getting busier. To address traffic congestion, the national government and Gelderland province are extending the A15 and connecting it to the A12. Parts of the A12 and A15 will be widened. These measures are being carried out under the ViA15 project name.

Extending the A15 between the Ressen interchange and widening the A12 between Duiven and Zevenaar is a vital improvement for the connection between the Randstad and Germany. This creates a second main route (parallel to the A12) toward Germany. The A15, which currently ends at the Ressen interchange, will be extended with a bridge over the Pannerdensch Canal and a sunken section between Duiven and Zevenaar. The new route follows the Betuweroute and will be built where no road currently exists.

Rijkswaterstaat and Gelderland province work together to integrate the road carefully into its surroundings. Gelderland province co-finances the project and invests in the underlying road network.

ViA15 is a large and complex project with significant impact on the area, both during construction and after completion. A key principle: strong focus on the natural environment and the people who live there.

Our role

EIFFEL Projects is part of the Rijkswaterstaat team and ensures project control. We provide project-wide control across these aspects: budget, organization, quality, information, time, scope, and risk. We help continuously improve the quality of project control.

What we're proud of

Rijkswaterstaat wants to complete this megaproject with attention to people and nature. By informing the community thoroughly, actively involving them in the project, and minimizing disruption, the work is carried out in a sustainable and respectful way. Even in the preparatory phase, measures have been taken to limit the impact on protected nature.

We are proud to deliver a meaningful contribution as Rijkswaterstaat's partner on a project with major social impact for the region.
